Joys & Sorrows

A collection of joys & sorrows : Whenever he sees us, our outgoing neighborhood kid leads a chorus of, “Vicki! Vicki! Kaitlin! Kaitlin! Shake! Shake!” (They misunderstood when Shea introduced herself.)  This catchy new nickname reminds me of how quickly kids wiggle their way into our hearts!  (I will post more specific kid blogs again soon ..!)   In the past two days, two children at Sarah’s Covenant Homes Victory Colony passed away suddenly.  The caring staff have had to mourn too often, but thankfully the spirits of these two girls are free...

“I will Never Leave nor Forsake you”

We have come face to face with some of the most acute desperation; Children starving, entire families living in small tents made of sticks, mothers forced to send their children to orphanages because they cannot afford to feed them… It’s heartbreaking to encounter such sorrow and know there’s nothing you can do to alleviate the pain.   This past week we spent some time doing house visits where we went into people’s homes and prayed for them. God’s goals

I can’t believe that we have been here for over a month! Organized Chaos

Time works differently here than it does back home. Sometimes it can feel like we have done something yesterday and really it happened two days ago. Or it can feel like something happened two days ago and it was really this morning.   India seems to run on this form of functioning chaos. It never ceases to amaze me how the laws for driving work here. You have people coming from all directions and yet you rarely see accidents. Water buffalo wander the roads and sometimes lay down in the middle of the busiest intersections but yet everyone easily steers around them.   There is no set time...
