Rejoicing and mourning

We finally went back to visit Jacob again! J We actually revisited a couple different places that we had gone to different weeks before. It was nice to see the same people again, to build relationship with them. We would actually recognized people, it felt good to have that connection. But Wednesday we went house visiting and Jacob was on that list. It was so good to see him again. He’s so cute! Ruth, his mother, said that he is still healthy and is doing good. I woke him from a nap, which I felt kind of bad about, but he was still a very happy boy. Even though we were only there for...

Worship Has No Language Barrier

Before we left for debrief I was getting anxious about what it would be like. Since we decided not to have any expectations, I had no idea what it would be like. The great thing about that is that its always a surprise. It was better than I could have imagined. I was able to play drums at the School of Worship. I’ve missed playing music since I came here. But God knew how much I would love this and He opened the door for me to do this. I was so excited.                During one of the worship services in the morning...

Joy

One of the first weeks that we were here in Ongole we prayed for a woman of Pastor K’s church because she had been struggling with demon spirits. She felt as though she was being spiritually attacked, had trouble sleeping, and heard voices telling her things like not to read the bible and she would get so weak that she could not go to church or have energy to do anything. Before she came to the church she had been a Hindu and worshiped the Hindu gods and Pastor asked our team to pray for her at her home. When we arrived at her home we could all sense that something was not right....

Satisfaction Is The Opposite Of Reaction

Since I spent most of the past week resting at home because of my boil, I had a lot of time to think and process. I was trying to, once again, try and think of something to write about and I hadn’t come up with much until the title of this blog popped into my head (It’s a GOD provided statement, I’m sure). We have a month left here in India. 2/3 of our trip is over. A month still sounds like quite a chunk of time until the weeks are broken down – 2 weeks in Ongole, 1 week working in a village near Ongole and then our last debrief. I’ve been thinking about all...

Neosporin: Duct Tape For Your Body

Quite honestly, I have no idea what to write for this blog, so I guess I’ll just do a quick rundown of the past couple of weeks. We got back on Saturday morning from our debrief/helping do administrative work in Hyderabad. It was a lot of fun eating American style food (McDonald’s, Domino’s, Subway, T.G.I. Friday’s Hard Rock Café…ah, now I’m starting to miss it again), going to a fort built in the 1600’s, visiting a [definitely not safety regulation meeting] zoo, and enjoying a lot of shopping. The fort was pretty cool for someone that doesn’t particularly...

Its Gods time…

Everyday in India is a new adventure and a new experience. I have definitley learned that what they taught us in training camp stands true with expectations. You cant have any! WHen you think that one thing is going to happen most likely  the complete opposite will. This plus language barriers, heat, sunburn, bug bites, and being away from home can make it extremely easy to get frustrated and just want to say i give up at times. I have experienced so many different emotions during my time spent in India so far, joy, sadness, anger, frustration…. you name it ive probably felt it. And...
