God’s goals

I can’t believe that we have been here for over a month! I feel like we have only just started what we came here to do, but God is amazing in how he works and uses all things for His good, especially when we are seeking and running after Him!    It is hard to think about how much time has passed and how it feels like we have barely tapped the surface of the ways in which we can serve India. I didn’t really know what to expect when we arrived. I honestly wasn’t sure why God wanted me to come to India or what He wanted to teach me in this...

Organized Chaos

Time works differently here than it does back home. Sometimes it can feel like we have done something yesterday and really it happened two days ago. Or it can feel like something happened two days ago and it was really this morning.   India seems to run on this form of functioning chaos. It never ceases to amaze me how the laws for driving work here. You have people coming from all directions and yet you rarely see accidents. Water buffalo wander the roads and sometimes lay down in the middle of the busiest intersections but yet everyone easily steers around them.   There is no set time...

Special Kids in the Community

This summer, while in India, we are partnering with Sarah’s Covenant Homes, and we want to tell you all about the incredible children we have grown to love! Theresa, one of the staff, is adamant about taking the children out into the community.  So … On the very first day we met the kids, we took a few of them out to eat at a restaurant.  What a treat! We often take the kids who cannot walk around the neighborhood in a wheelchair. We accompanied several children on their first day of school! (They have lessons at home too, but a new public school director...

Storms in India

It is monsoon season here in India and so far we have not had a lot of rain. I was thinking about storms last week and how powerful they are and all the fresh growth that can come out of a storm as well as all the damage that they can do.   The more I thought about storms and India I realized that there is a lot more than just physical storms that occur. There are a lot of spiritual storms, some of which are pleasant and some of which are difficult to handle.   Sometimes you can feel this gloom in the air that seems to rest heavy on your heart and...

Temples Built By Hands

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.” – Acts 17:24 This verse comes from one of my absolute favorite passages in the Bible, where Paul addresses the Areopagus in Athens. I find it to be so incredibly beautiful, and just completely packed with Truth. And what a passage for a nation such as India! It seems there are “temples built by hands” everywhere you turn. We get the privilege of preaching to and praying for a different remote village church every night, and I...
