Storms in India

It is monsoon season here in India and so far we have not
had a lot of rain. I was thinking about storms last week and how powerful they
are and all the fresh growth that can come out of a storm as well as all the
damage that they can do.

The more I thought about storms and India I realized that
there is a lot more than just physical storms that occur. There are a lot of
spiritual storms, some of which are pleasant and some of which are difficult to
handle.

Sometimes you can feel this gloom in the air that seems to
rest heavy on your heart and sometimes grows with each temple that you pass. I
find myself praying each time we pass a temple that it would crumble to the
ground and its worshipers would be set free from the storm they are caught in.
There are also storms of sadness, pain and suffering which are present and real
to many of the people who have not experienced a storm from God.

The storms that come from God are storms of joy and
laughter! Storms which leave you rejoicing from the growth that occurs instead
of the damage that is done by the storms of life. When we get to work with the
children here in India these are the kinds of storms we encounter, the kind
that make you want more of the sweet rain that springs up new growth along with
laughter and dancing!

My prayer is that God would cause us to be a storm to the
people that we encounter here in India! I pray that we would be so caught up in
His storm that everyday we would feel his rain sprinkle peace on us and flood
us with His joy so that we in turn will overflow His love onto everyone we
encounter! Bring us your storm!
