Martin Luther King Jr was well-known by the ground shaking speech he gave to end slavery. This Speech, “I Have A Dream” was his heart’s cry.
Monday night our team experienced life on the streets of downtown Atlanta from 10pm to around 3am. It really opened our eyes and God showed us His heart for the homeless. At 12am we found a spot and started praying about what God wanted us to sacrifice on this trip.
When I was 16, God gave me a dream to be a missionary to India. I have always waited for God to open the door for me to see this dream come true. In November I took a trip to Mexico to visit my sister, Becca. I went there to see what AIM was like and to spend time with her. What I didn’t know was that God was telling me the wait was finally over. While there, Becca told me of a trip AIM was taking in a few months to India. It sounded like a great idea, but I didn’t think it would actually happen. The amazing thing about God is that He has a plan for us, and He gives us the desires of our heart. That’s exactly what happened.
So here I was praying about the sacrifice God would ask of me. I expected it to be something simple and maybe even physical, like my food for a day. I wasn’t ready for what God said though, and my first thought was of India. It didn’t make sense at first. I asked myself the

question of why God would do this. Was He teasing me? Was this waiting of four years all for nothing? I had dedicated my life this dream. All these thoughts went through my mind in a matter of seconds. Then God spoke again and He clarified. He told me that He wanted me to give Him my dream so that He could reshape it into something more beautiful. So I gave it to Him. And the result is incredible.
This week God has refined me. He took my dream and made it a passion. It has become my love life. I am in love with India and all the people there. Isn’t it funny how we sometimes think that God could ever do something that would be a waste of our time? His plan is for us to constantly grow in Him. He longs for us to give our lives to Him so that He can transform it and make it work perfectly for His Kingdom.
So… say a prayer ’cause here we go!!!!!
