the chicken in India tastes better…

Here is a thought that occurred to me over a chicken dinner I had the other day, so I felt like sharing it with you…   After two-three hours of intense worship, stirring testimonies, and riveting messages, we are always invited back to a pastor, or an elder, or even a new believer’s house for dinner. We make our way over to that individual’s home or just stay at the church. We then wash up, which usually consists of well water dripped on your hands, and sit down to enjoy our meal.   The biggest part of the meal for the Indians is usually what type of...

Who Needs Enemies With Brothers Like These?

So, just for your entertainment, here is a super cute picture of Brent. I love his overalls!     I assume that if you’re reading this, you’re hoping to hear about what we’re doing in India. I’ve found that sometimes GOD teaches me things not when I’m doing something, but just when I’m spending time with HIM and fellowshipping with others. So this blog has nothing to do with what we’re doing, but something that I’ve been thinking about. (Please note that this blog is slightly satirical. While this is a very serious topic,...

God’s little signs

Well India is definitely not like America, which I’m sure you all know that, but here is a lessons I am still trying to learn/adjust to: So last Sunday was Teresa’s birthday and we went to the Victory House to celebrate. There was a cake, we sang Happy Birthday, she opened presents. It was like a birthday back home except with 50 very hyper kids there. She wore a tiara and her fancy Punjabi, the whole ordeal J haha. It was cute. This is me feeding cake to Teresa. J That’s how they eat the birthday cake here. They cut it into small cubes and the birthday girl (or boy)...

life.

I just got word that my Grandpa passed away. Sorry this is the first blog I post in India…. but I feel like I need to process through my thoughts and emotions and after talking with sisters and family…. I need to just vent. Tonight I found out that my Grandpa passed away. I am still in shock. aside from the crying… I seem to be laughing a lot. My wires are crossed and all of the pain and frustration and sad feelings are coming out as laughter. On one hand I am thankful that he is in Heaven really enjoying life-  dancing around, boogying with God. What a sight that...

Not Always According To Plan

Have you ever had those moments where you expect one thing but got a different result? Well that is how India is; all the time. I am now at the point that I expect it. Even an hour ago we faced such a situation. But the moment that I want to mention is one that took place last night.            Many nights throughout the week we go in the van with Pastor K and have believer’s meetings. We thought last night was just another meeting like that. It was around the same time that we normally go, and it was the same setting as...

my love is success!

If you would have told me a year ago that in a year I would be in India. wearing a man skirt, writing a blog I would’ve laughed at you. But as of now this feels like what I’ve always done, airing out my thighs on a hot Indian day. The other day I was reminded of a word that God gave me in 2002, I was 11. I was getting prayed for at a summer camp and i saw a planing flying through the clouds and it had missionaries on it. I started to cry cause i thought this was God telling me that i was going to be a pilot and fly missionaries around the world. So I tried for years to get a...
