Satisfaction Is The Opposite Of Reaction

Since I spent most of the past week resting at home because of my boil, I had a lot of time to think and process. I was trying to, once again, try and think of something to write about and I hadn’t come up with much until the title of this blog popped into my head (It’s a GOD provided statement, I’m sure). We have a month left here in India. 2/3 of our trip is over. A month still sounds like quite a chunk of time until the weeks are broken down – 2 weeks in Ongole, 1 week working in a village near Ongole and then our last debrief. I’ve been thinking about all...

Neosporin: Duct Tape For Your Body

Quite honestly, I have no idea what to write for this blog, so I guess I’ll just do a quick rundown of the past couple of weeks. We got back on Saturday morning from our debrief/helping do administrative work in Hyderabad. It was a lot of fun eating American style food (McDonald’s, Domino’s, Subway, T.G.I. Friday’s Hard Rock Café…ah, now I’m starting to miss it again), going to a fort built in the 1600’s, visiting a [definitely not safety regulation meeting] zoo, and enjoying a lot of shopping. Its Gods time…

Everyday in India is a new adventure and a new experience. I have definitley learned that what they taught us in training camp stands true with expectations. You cant have any! WHen you think that one thing is going to happen most likely  the complete opposite will. This plus language barriers, heat, sunburn, bug bites, and being away from home can make it extremely easy to get frustrated and just want to say i give up at times. I have experienced so many different emotions during my time spent in India so far, joy, sadness, anger, frustration…. you name it ive probably felt...

When GOD Shows Up

I had a completely different blog planned out, but GOD had other plans. Sunday night we had village outreach. I don’t really like village outreach, I had already said I would speak that night (Yeah, women giving sermons is a little different for me, but this was my 5th or 6th one so I’m getting used to it) and it was a 1 ½ hour drive to a village that had never seen white people before so I was expecting to be worn out and in no way excited to be there. But GOD had other plans. I felt relaxed when we got there. I didn’t sense anything bad and I wasn’t...

Hello Rat!!!

Almost everyday our team has been working at the V. Colony or victory House, the  orphanage for special needs children. It is difficult to see what these children have to ovecome and the disabilities that they deal with on a daily basis. Although this is heartbreaking to see at times, its so amazing to see what a little extra time spent with them can do and make a huge difference. As I was playing with a little blind girl one day putting together strands of beads and puzzles, the way her mind works and the potential that you can see in her is inspiring. She could put together...
