Preparation

Wow… This week has been amazing. It’s been intense, but also kind of slow at times. But it has been really fantastic. One of the most important parts of the day here are the ‘sessions’. Everyone gathers in a long (and thankfully air-conditioned) room to listen to a talk on something. For me they have been really impactful, but it has been difficult too. They have really challenged me in some ways, but at the same time, really encouraged me and I’m more certain than ever that this is exactly where God want’s me right now. It’s been especially...

Traveling Home

Most parents should have received this update via email, but because several email addresses bounced back, we’re including it here as well:   We know many of you are aware of the recent volcano eruption in Iceland and the effect this is having on flights through Europe.  Unfortunately, our Real Life teams in Kenya and India are scheduled to fly through Amsterdam and London this weekend.  We are in regular communication with our travel agent and both airports are currently open.  Since all participants do currently have seats, they should not be bumped from any of...

Moving moments

So I was planning to post this the past couple weeks, but we were in Hyderabad for debrief. Which was amazing!! That’s what the pictures are from. And then the other two weeks the internet decided not to work. So here it is finally! This is at a fort we went to. It’s Golkonda Forts or something like that. It was crazy to see everything. There was like the kings room and the ballroom, and court house and it was all made from this stone stuff. It was really cool I would just tell you the one experience, but there are two moments that I really want to share. So here’s the...

Rejoicing and mourning

We finally went back to visit Jacob again! J We actually revisited a couple different places that we had gone to different weeks before. It was nice to see the same people again, to build relationship with them. We would actually recognized people, it felt good to have that connection. But Wednesday we went house visiting and Jacob was on that list. It was so good to see him again. He’s so cute! Ruth, his mother, said that he is still healthy and is doing good. I woke him from a nap, which I felt kind of bad about, but he was still a very happy boy. Even though we were only there for...

Worship Has No Language Barrier

Before we left for debrief I was getting anxious about what it would be like. Since we decided not to have any expectations, I had no idea what it would be like. The great thing about that is that its always a surprise. It was better than I could have imagined. I was able to play drums at the School of Worship. I’ve missed playing music since I came here. But God knew how much I would love this and He opened the door for me to do this. I was so excited.                During one of the worship services in the...

Joy

One of the first weeks that we were here in Ongole we prayed for a woman of Pastor K’s church because she had been struggling with demon spirits. She felt as though she was being spiritually attacked, had trouble sleeping, and heard voices telling her things like not to read the bible and she would get so weak that she could not go to church or have energy to do anything. Before she came to the church she had been a Hindu and worshiped the Hindu gods and Pastor asked our team to pray for her at her home. When we arrived at her home we could all sense that something was not...
