Real Life Update: Attention Supporters and Families of Participants!

We are excited for the teams who will be launching on the 19th and on the field for over four months!  There are five trips launching out on three continents. And we are excited for you to be able to be a partner in the development of these young adults. Sarah’s Covenant Homes

In conjunction with ICM (India Christian Ministries), is  an organization geared toward special needs orphans, known as Sarah’s Covenant Homes. This is the heart and passion of Sarah Rebbavarapu, who along with her husband also founded ICM. These homes are places where children and teenagers with special needs are taken care of. Due to the harsh realities of a culture that is primarily driven by perfection, individuals with physical and mental disabilities are seen as an eye-sore and subsequently cast aside. It takes a village

UNICEF estimates that there are over 25.5 million orphans under the age of 17 living in India.   That means there are more orphans in India than there are people living in Texas or New York!  And only about 60% of these orphans aged 10-14 go to a school of any kind; many are left to fend for themselves. India Christian Ministries believes it is the duty of the church to take care of the orphans, the widows and the poor, and that a good education is the best way to break the cycle of poverty and instill hope for this generation and those to come.  So they have...

Joys & Sorrows

A collection of joys & sorrows : Whenever he sees us, our outgoing neighborhood kid leads a chorus of, “Vicki! Vicki! Kaitlin! Kaitlin! Shake! Shake!” (They misunderstood when Shea introduced herself.)  This catchy new nickname reminds me of how quickly kids wiggle their way into our hearts!  (I will post more specific kid blogs again soon ..!)   In the past two days, two children at Sarah’s Covenant Homes Victory Colony passed away suddenly.  The caring staff have had to mourn too often, but thankfully the spirits of these two girls are free...

“I will Never Leave nor Forsake you”

We have come face to face with some of the most acute desperation; Children starving, entire families living in small tents made of sticks, mothers forced to send their children to orphanages because they cannot afford to feed them… It’s heartbreaking to encounter such sorrow and know there’s nothing you can do to alleviate the pain.   This past week we spent some time doing house visits where we went into people’s homes and prayed for them.
