Neosporin: Duct Tape For Your Body

Quite honestly, I have no idea what to write for this blog,
so I guess I’ll just do a quick rundown of the past couple of weeks. We got
back on Saturday morning from our debrief/helping do administrative work in
Hyderabad. It was a lot of fun eating American style food (McDonald’s,
Domino’s, Subway, T.G.I. Friday’s Hard Rock Café…ah, now I’m starting to miss
it again), going to a fort built in the 1600’s, visiting a [definitely not
safety regulation meeting] zoo, and enjoying a lot of shopping.

The fort was pretty cool for someone that doesn’t
particularly like history. There were these random spots that our tour guide
showed us where you can clap and it can echo at different points around the
entire grounds of the fort, but it doesn’t echo 5 feet away from that spot.
There were also these holes in the wall that were used to communicate up to the
king. It was pretty neat to see how advanced the fort was for it’s time, and it
provided for a lot of cool pictures.

The zoo had a lot of birds (Ali’s favorite animal ever…) but
we also got to see monkeys, jaguars, lions, tigers, bears and quite a few
elephants, although we didn’t get to ride them like we hoped. We also went into
a creepy nocturnal animal cave thing where there were no lights and some
exhibits didn’t have any glass between you and the animal. There were hanging
chains separating sections of the cave. Yeah, that was definitely not creepy.
However, the most impressive animal we saw were spotted deer. That’s right, deer.
At the zoo. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and taking Sarah’s 2 daughters who are
6 and 7 made it even more amusing, especially when we told them that this tabby
cat that had gotten into an exhibit was a ferocious jungle feline that would
pounce at the slightest sign of danger. They didn’t believe us really, but it
was even more fun when the cat got back out of the fenced area and came near
where we were eating ice cream.

Brent came to Hyderabad on Monday to go to the hospital
Tuesday for blood transfusions to get ready for his surgery on Saturday. I got
to visit him on Thursday and thankfully he wasn’t drugged up so he was his
normal crazy and adorable self. Still, seeing his arm like that broke my heart a bit, but I love that I finally have a great picture of him smiling! No word on how the surgery went but they’re
planning on coming back to Ongole today so hopefully I’ll get some information
soon.

Unfortunately, along with all the great/fun/helpful things
we did, I also had the joy of going to the ER on Friday. It’s not a huge deal,
but I managed to acquire a boil and got that checked out. Since Saralyn had 4 a
couple of weeks ago and I’d heard all about what they did for hers, I was not
excited. She had to get hers cut open and had to pack them as they healed. I
can’t say I ever look forward to anything on my body getting cut plus I don’t
remember ever going to the ER in the past, so I was pretty worried about it. I
now understand the torment of the 6th plague on a very minute scale.
Thankfully, it’s not big enough to get cut so I just have to take antibiotics
and wait it out.

On a happy note, the rest of the team is doing well.
Obviously, Satan is constantly throwing infirmity our way, but we’re fighting
through it. GOD has been opening a lot of different doors and revealing HIMSELF
in new ways. I can’t really go into detail with mine until a lot of clarity is
thrown my way and I don’t want to steal anyone else’s thunder, so I’ll just
leave you with the fact that GOD is constantly moving here in India and
hopefully in your lives as well. I love you all and am praying for you.
